Holidays can be exhausting, especially for little ones who find long flights arduous and boring. But the desire for a short travel time doesn’t mean you have to stay at home, there are loads of destinations within easy reach that are just a couple of hours away.
While the North East has stunning beaches, gorgeous sprawling countryside and a wealth of activities to seek out, sometimes a little change can be good.

Paris
Flight time: 1 hour, 50 minutes
The city of love, culture, art, fashion and food has everything you could possibly need for a short break. Whether you want to venture out to Disneyland Paris or experience the French city culture, there’s plenty to do. We recommend hot chocolates at the legendary tea room Angelina and a trip to the aquarium.
Frankfurt
Flight time: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Frankfurt is Germany’s most international city and is up there with one of the best and easiest cities in the world to get around. For those with kids, consider putting the last Saturday of June or July in your stay as the little ones can enjoy free entry, workshops and tours of many of Frankfurt’s celebrated museums.
Amsterdam

The “Dam” is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, and for good reason. Home to an exhilarating art scene with romantic canals, scenic bike tours and delicious food, Amsterdam is one not to miss.
Dublin
Flight time: 1 hour, 20 minutes
The Medieval capital of Ireland is a picturesque bustling hub of activity, there are always events going on whether they’re sports, music or exhibitions. Enjoy the city’s parks and city streets, its pubs, bars and restaurants, or board a train and head out of the city and into the breathtaking sprawling countryside.
Stavanger
Flight time: 1 hour, 20 minutes
Possibly one of Norway’s hidden gems, Stavanger is known for street art, food, culture and proximity to mesmerising nature attractions. Breathtaking surroundings feature fjords, mountains and sandy white beaches that sit close to museums and boutiques, colourful streets and galleries.
