Five held in rowdy-sheeter murder case at Amalapuram in Andhra Pradesh

The Konaseema police on September 8 arrested five persons in connection with the murder of a rowdy-sheeter at Eedarapalli village under Amalapuram police limits in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on September 1.

The accused, Balla Sateesh, T. Sesha Sudheer, Koppula Manikanta, Adabala Veerababu and Koduri Siva Kalyan, all from the district, were produced in a local court and sent in remand.

Polisetti Ramakrishna Kishore, a rowdy-sheeter, was killed in an attack with sticks by a rival group on the outskirts of Eedarapalli. Kishore’s friend Adapa Sai was also injured in the attack.

The murder led to tension in Amalapuram town the following day, forcing the police to deploy additional forces and impose prohibitory orders under Section 30 and Section 144 to avoid untoward incidents.

Identifying the five accused on September 5, Superintendent of Police S. Sreedhar told the media that on August 31 the deceased had reportedly physically assaulted the prime accused, Balla Sateesh, and his friends. The next day, the group led by Sateesh attacked Kishore and killed him.

The police are probing the case to ascertain if there are any other reasons for the murder. They are on the lookout for the other accused indirectly involved in the murder and the incidents that followed.
