Five family UK summer holidays we found for under £300 in August

The summer holidays are fast approaching and so many parents start thinking about how they're going to occupy their children during the six week break. A lot of families decide to pack up and take the kids away on a much needed getaway but it can be hard when prices soar during July and August.

Not only that, prices of everything from butter to fuel have skyrocketed over the past few months so money is tight for many. However, it still doesn't stop a lot of parents wanting to take their children on holiday.

Below we have complied a list of holiday destinations in the UK which are offering a family of four, with two children under the age of 10, a getaway for under £300 in August. We should note that travel costs have not been included.

Camping in Cornwall

Whilst we cannot guarantee the weather in the UK, its hard to deny Cornwall isn't the perfect destination for family holidays. With so much to see and do in the outdoors and stunning beaches, the southern county has been a hot spot for tourists for years.

A family of four can stay from Monday 1 August to Sunday 7 August for £108. The campsite is set in Stoke Climsland and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Families would need to bring their own tent but the site offers a fully equipped bathroom with shower and free toiletries. The area around the site is filled with places to hike and fish.

You can cancel the booking free of charge up to two days before arrival. The site has been rated by recent guests on Booking.com as having a top location.

Yorkshire Coast caravan

The Yorkshire Coast has plenty on offer for families looking for a trip to the seaside this summer. Over looking the North Sea, Bridlington gives families a taste of tradition.

Families looking to head to the seaside town can stay in a static caravan in South Shore Holiday Village for £240. The price is for a family of four staying for three nights in the first week of August.

The caravan is also pet friendly and is in walking distance to many top attractions including Candy Kingdom and John Bull World of Rock. It is set on a holiday park which has lots to keep children entertained including amusements and a tennis court.

Pembrokeshire coastal path caravan park

Pembrokeshire is home to rugged beaches including Porthmelgan Beach (Darren Paulson)

The rugged coastline of Pembrokeshire attracts many tourists each year and you and your family could stay for a reasonable price. Located in Nine Wells Caravan park, this static caravan consists of two bedrooms and can sleep up to five.

The site is home to just 25 caravans and is 10 minutes to the Pembrokeshire Costal Path. It boasts scenic costal walks, harbours and beaches suitable for the family.

The caravan can be booked for three nights in the first week of August for £210 for the whole family. Further details can be found here.

Welsh mountain side camping

If it is a sustainable holiday you are after, this campsite could be the one. Set next door to Coedmor National Nature Reserve in Cardigan, Wales, this campsite offers mountain views.

A family of four can have a 6 night stay at the site from Monday 1 August to Sunday 7 August for £240. The site offers visitors bathroom and shower facilities as well as an outdoor dining area.

Coedmor Camping prides itself on sustainability as hey planted trees during the winter months which has created a new woodland. Families at the site can go on a number of walks and are just three miles away from the nearest beach.

Devon riverside camping and caravanning

Devon is the perfect summer holiday destination with its rolling countryside and beautiful beaches. Nestled between Exmoor and the North Devon coast, sits this award winning family friendly campsite.

The site offers families electric and non electric grass pitches, hardstanding pitches and static caravans. For a whole week in August from the 1st to the 7th, a family of two adults and two children can stay on a jumbo non electric grass pitch for £168.

Facilities at the site include showers and toilets, a bar and restaurant as well as seasonal family entertainment. There is a play area for children, an on-site shop, free Wi-Fi and woodland walks.
