While visitors might make Edinburgh their primary port of call on account of its history and beauty, any tourist planning a visit to Scotland will also be told 'but you need to head to Glasgow for a night out'.
For quite some time now, Glasgow has been famed for having one of the best nights out in the world, whether that be on account of its substantial and varied food options, brilliant bars, globally revered music scene or just for the friendliness and patter of Glaswegians themselves.
And, with the covid lockdowns having ended, nightlife in our city is starting to return to some degree of normality. Overseas visitors are beginning to return, making that all-important Glasgow stop-off to sample a night out and see what all the fuss is about.

Global travel authority Lonely Planet has just recently published a new Experience Scotland guide, which includes a list of essential venues you need to cross off the list to make the most of any night out in Glasgow.
Their latest release aims to 'turn to travel on its head' and has been dubbed 'the anti-guidebook’ by 'helping travellers uncover new ways to get away from the everyday, filled with unforgettable experiences and interesting local surprises'.
Under the 'A Night on The Town' section they say: "From time immemorial, Glaswegians have loved to be entertained. They love having a good laugh at themselves, and each other.
"They love a good feast, a suitable bevvy, a night of dancing and a singalong. You'd be well advised to join in."
So here's where they've suggested we book into on a Friday or Saturday night to make the most of that famous Glasgow nightlife:
Crabshakk
"Scottish seafood is among the world's best so start with a leisurely lunch and some crab cakes at the ever-popular and exceedingly snug Crabshakk.

"The Ubiquitous Chip, with its multiple bars and wide range, is a firm favourite with the locals."
Stand Comedy Club
"Discover emerging comedic acts at the Stand Comedy Club.
"It's a bit of a lucky dip but it's not unheard of to get big hitters popping in to try out some new material."
Mother India
"Scots love a curry, and Glasgow excels in this department.
"Mother India is a culinary institution, and its cafe, opposite Kelvingrove Museum, puts on a relaxed but animated communal feast."
King Tut's Wah Wah Hut
"Complete your night at one of Glasgow's several superb live music venues.
"There's nowhere better than King Tut's Wah Wah Hut to spot the next big thing, with Oasis, Radiohead and Paolo Nutini having blazed the same trail."
