Five East Kilbride community groups receive council funding

Almost £2000 has been granted to community groups in East Kilbride.

At the East Kilbride Area Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 1, five groups received community grants totalling £1860.

Community grants are given to community groups and voluntary organisations to help fund activities and projects and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities to improve the local environment.

Support can be given to groups for a range of activities including administration and publicity costs, to purchase equipment and materials, outings, start-up costs and special events.

The groups who benefited from funding include East Kilbride Art Collective, who received £300 for start-up costs, materials, an outing, administration and publicity costs.

East Kilbride Flower Club were granted £300 for an outing, while Climate Action Strathaven were given £600 for materials.

The 20th East Kilbride Guides received £300 for an outing and Duncanrig Rambling Club were funded £360 for an outing, administration and publicity costs.

The total amount for the East Kilbride Area Committee for community grants was £25,750 for 2022/2023, there is now £13,973.60 left.
