Brad Fittler is likely to have to wait until October to learn if he will stay on as NSW State of Origin coach, as he prepares to meet with board members over the future of both he and his staff.

Fittler will front the NSW Rugby League board on Friday, after delivering a review of the Blues' 2-1 series loss at their last monthly meeting in August.

Fittler was told that at that meeting to come back to the board with his projected staff for 2024.

Those talks will be held at Friday's monthly meeting, with the board to then consider Fittler's preferences before making a decision on his future.

Fittler is favoured to eventually be retained as Blues coach, but confirmation of a new contract is unlikely before the following board meeting in late October.

Fittler's staff this season included Greg Alexander as chief advisor, alongside the likes of Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus and Paul McGregor in camp.

Ivan Cleary was also spotted in Fittler's coaching box during NSW's Game III win, and Fittler indicated at the time he was impressed by the Penrith coach.

The Blues' series loss marked their second in a row, with Fittler having a 3-3 series record since taking over in 2018.

NSW women's coach Kylie Hilder will also front the NSWRL board, after making her own end-of-series presentation last month.

The Sky Blues drew the two-match series 1-1, but relinquished their hold on the shield on for-and-against.

Women's players want the for-and-against model scrapped next year, and a third match introduced into their series.
