Former Scotland player Siobhan Cattigan was remembered by the Scottish Rugby Union ahead of Gregor Townsend side's Six Nations clash with Ireland on Sunday.
An image of Siobhan beside her Scotland shirt was displayed on the screens around Murrayfield as the crowd joined in for a minute's applause.
But her family were not present at the match in Edinburgh and they wanted the tribute to take place closer to kick-off when the players from both teams were on the pitch, something which didn't happen.
And although fans described the tribute as "fitting and lovely" on social media, they weren't fully happy with it.
One wrote: "A fitting and lovely tribute to #SiobhanCattigan. Just a shame it wasn't whilst the players were on the pitch."
Someone else said: "Lovely tribute to Siobhan Cattigan at Murrayfield and fittingly broadcast on BBC."
Another comment read: "Good on Gabby Logan for mentioning the fact that the SRU had refused to allow the commemoration of Siobhan Cattigan to happen with the players on the pitch in line with their wishes."
One other person wrote: "Poor not having #Siobhancattigan minute of applause with the players on the pitch."
Someone else stated:"Brilliant cut from @GabbyLogan for Siobhan Cattigan ovation - mentioning that this was not done with the players on the park as the family requested. So glad that it was broadcast & the stadium is packed with fans standing & applauding Siobhan."
Siobhan's parents Neil and Morven Cattigan said the Scottish Rugby Union has behaved 'dishonourably' in organising a tribute for their daughter.
Former Scotland flanker Siobhan died in November 2021 at the age of 26, having earned 19 caps for her country.
