Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical will be coming to Bristol next year. Based on the true story of the Cornish singing sensations Fisherman’s Friends, and the hit 2019 film about their life, the musical visits the Hippodrome from May 3-5, 2023, as part of a UK tour.
The UK and Ireland Tour follows a highly successful, sold-out season at Hall for Cornwall, where box office records were smashed, making it the biggest selling production in Hall for Cornwall’s 25-year history. Featuring hit shanties made famous by the band including Keep Haulin’, Nelson's Blood, No Hopers Jokers & Rogues and many more, Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical is directed by James Grieve and written by Amanda Whittington.
Although the full cast is yet to be confirmed, the production includes Casualty’s James Gaddas, Mamma Mia! Star Parisa Shahmir, Robert Duncan of Drop the Dead Donkey fame and veteran actress Susan Penhaligon, who starred in ITV’s Bouquet of Barbed Wire, Emmerdale and A Fine Romance. Anton Stephans, a finalist in The X Factor, will play the part of Leadville.

The story tells the story of when a group of Cornish fishermen came together to sing the traditional working songs they’d sung for generations. They hoped to raise money for charity but ended up appearing on the Pyramid stage of Glastonbury.
Packed with sea shanties, the show is a feelgood voyage about friendship, community and music. The sequel film, Fisherman’s Friends: One and All, is set to be released in the UK on August 19.
Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical is at Bristol Hippodrome from May 3-6, 2023 and tickets can be bought here. You can also book by phone on 0844 871 7615.
