First picture of Scots woman who died in horror A9 crash as police appeal for information

A woman who tragically died after crashing her Mini Cooper on the A9 has been named by police as Claire Wilson.

Emergency services were called to the stretch of road in Perthshire between Luncarty and Bankfoot on Thursday, November 17. Medics attended the scene at 9.20pm but the 55-year-old, who was driving the white motor, was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Mrs Wilson, from Dunfermline in Fife, was the sole occupant of the only vehicle involved in the incident. The road was closed overnight to allow officers to carry out investigations.

The nurse worked for NHS Fife's radiology department at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

NHS Fife Director of Nursing, Janette Keenan, said: "We were truly saddened to learn of the tragic death of Claire Wilson. Our hearts go out to Claire's family at this most difficult of times.

"In addition to being a skilled, compassionate and dedicated member of our radiology team, Claire was also a much-loved and trusted friend who will be greatly missed by her colleagues, both at Queen Margaret Hospital and elsewhere across NHS Fife."

Sergeant Gordon Dickson said: “Our thoughts are with Claire’s family and friends at this difficult time. Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and I would urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3418 of Thursday, 17 November, 2022.
