A pedestrian who died after he was hit by a car on a main road in Dumbarton has been named as 42-year-old Alan Baker.
Alan, who hailed from the Dumbarton area, was struck by a white Skoda Fabia at around 11.20pm on Sunday July 10. Emergency services descended on the scene of the crash on the A814 Cardross Road and rushed him to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Sadly, he did not survive his injuries and died on Monday July 11. Police released his identity on Saturday and are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to get in touch if they have any information relating to the incident.
Sergeant Lloyd Caven, of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Alan’s family and friends at this difficult time. Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
“I am appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who saw what happened to contact us. I would also appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam footage which could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
Tributes were paid to Alan on social media. One post read: "So sad thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."
