First picture of man beaten to death outside Sainsbury's in Beckenham as suspect is charged with his murder

Police have released a picture of the man killed outside a Sainsbury’s store in Beckenham as a 29-year-old is charged with his murder.

Andrew Clark, 43, was attacked outside the supermarket in Bromley, south-east London, on Sunday, 16 March.

Demiesh Williams, of Fir Tree Gardens, Croydon was charged with murder on Tuesday.

He appeared before the Old Bailey that day and was remanded into custody.

Paramedics raced to the scene on Upper Elmers End Road at 8.24pm where they treated Mr Clark for head injuries, before rushing him to a major trauma centre.

But he could not be saved and died from his injuries on Wednesday, 19 March.

Many floral tributes have been left for Mr Clark at the scene of the attack that shocked the local community.

Williams, 29, had previously been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent but the new murder charge has been laid after Mr Clark’s death.

He will next appear on Tuesday, 10 June at the Old Bailey.

Mr Clark's family continue to be supported by specialist officers, the Met said.
