Tributes have been paid to a young Edinburgh man who 'lit up the room' after he sadly died following a horror collision with a car on Tuesday morning.
Stephen McGovern, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident on Calder Road shortly before 8am. Emergency services rushed to the scene but were sadly unable to save Stephen.
A police investigation is now underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash which involved a silver Toyota Auris. The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

Following Stephen's death, tributes have flooded in from friends and family members who described him as "outgoing" and a "lovely soul," reports the Record. Friend Saffron Anderson said: "He lit the room up every time he walked into one and he was the most outgoing, loveliest soul anyone could meet and he will be dearly missed."
Adding to that, Saffron posted: "I can't believe I'm writing this right now, my heart is absolutely shattered, I only saw you two days ago, until we meet again my angel, keep raving up there."
Another friend, Jaimie Duffy, said: "I’m honestly so lost for words, rest in peace Stephen McGovern such a funny lad you were. We won’t ever forget your laugh or the hilarious memories with you."
A third friend added: "A good friend...ain't good to hear when I saw him a good few days and his family are good neighbours. [Love] to the family."
Sergeant Barry Sommerville, of Police Scotland's Edinburgh Division, said on Tuesday: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time. We are working to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to police to get in touch.
"We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area. Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 0497 of 4 July, 2023.”
