The family of a pedestrian who died after being struck by a lorry on a busy Scottish motorway have paid a heartfelt tribute to him.
Ben Miller, from Glasgow, passed away after being hit by the truck near the M74 on-ramp at junction 1A in the city's Polmadie at around 11.35pm on Saturday, June 3, Police Scotland confirmed.
The road was closed for roughly five hours after the crash while an investigation was carried out and reopened at 5am. Cops have launched an appeal for any witnesses to come forward or anyone with dash-cam footage from the motorway at the time of the incident.
The 39-year-old's heartbroken family released a statement via the force. It read: “We are deeply shocked at Ben's sudden passing.
“Ben leaves behind a close family and many loving friends, and we are very grateful for all the messages of love and support that we have received. We ask that our wishes for privacy at this difficult time are respected.”
Sergeant John Houston, of Glasgow Road Policing, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Miller’s family and friends at this time. We are continuing with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have seen what happened who hasn’t yet spoken to police to contact 101, quoting reference number 5187 of June 3, 2023.”
