First picture of Dundee woman who died after being found with serious injuries on Bonfire night as man appears in court

This is the first picture of a Dundee woman who died in an alleged incident in the city on Bonfire Night.

Emergency services were called to reports of concern for a person at an address in Aboyne Avenue at around 6.10am last Friday, November 5.

Yvonne Barr was rushed to Ninewells Hospital for treatment, where she later died.

The 47-year-old’s partner, Kenneth Melville, was charged with her murder when he appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.

The 58-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear again next week.

Police continued to probe the incident at the flat today.

A uniformed officer guarded the property as locals paid tribute to the grandmother online.

Writing on Facebook, one said: “Such a crying shame, thoughts go out to ur family. Rip.”

While another wrote: “Rip Yvonne you was a great person.”

A local who lives in a nearby block said: "“Aye she was a nice enough woman. I’ve been here eight years, she’s been here about 10.

“Didn’t really know her all that well, just saw her if she was going up the backies to get bread, milk, fags and that."

"But aye, a nice enough woman.”

Another said: “This is just horrible news to hear.

“Yvonne was a caring person who would have done anything for anyone.

While another neighbour added: “I’m absolutely heartbroken to hear she has died.

“I’ve known her for around seven years, she was such a lovely woman, her door was always open to have a chat.

“I can’t believe that she has died.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a concern for person around 6.10am on Friday, 5 November, at an address in Aboyne Avenue, Dundee.

"Emergency services attended and a 47-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital for treatment, but later died.

"A 58-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.”
