Police have revealed the identity of a man who died following a late-night car fire in Renfrewshire last month.

Emergency services were called to reports of a motor on fire in Houston Road, Houston, at around 11.50pm on Saturday March 26.

Scott Sanderson, from nearby Johnstone, was found pronounced dead at the scene of the horror blaze.

Renfrewshire Police Division released a statement on Wednesday morning alongside a photograph of the 48-year-old.

Officers also expressed their condolences for his loved ones.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the fatal road crash remain 'ongoing'.

Sergeant Adnan Alam said: “Our thoughts remain with Scott’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and we continue to urge anyone with information, or possible dashcam footage from the area, to call 101, quoting incident number 4563 of March 26.”
