First look inside popular Edinburgh restaurant as second spot opens in city

Popular Indian street food restaurant Tuk Tuk has just opened up its second branch in the capital on Drummond Street in the Southside area.

Taking on an abandoned restaurant that was laying empty for months the space has been completely transformed into a bright and vibrant dining area.

The original branch in Tollcross has been popular with residents for years, winning awards in the past for their authentic Indian street food.

Now Edinburgh Live are excited to give you an exclusive first look of the new restaurant which is now open for customers from 5pm every day of the week. The plush diner was nominated for a number of awards in the Asian Restaurant Awards earlier this year and has been a firm favourite with locals across the city for years.

Delicious favourites on the new menu include chicken lollipops, puri yoghurt bombs, and Bengali fish cakes. There are also many classic curries like the Bombay chilli chicken and railway station lamb curry.

Other dishes include the unauthentic chicken korma, a succulent dish with chicken pieces delicately flavoured in a silky coconut sauce and Rasti Ke Biryani - which is bone chicken biryani, just the way you would find it by the roadside.

Drinks include Thums up - the cola of Bombay, sparkling Indian lemonade drinks, homemade lassi and delicious fruit coolers with mint and lime. There are no alcoholic drinks available but plenty of refreshing alternatives to complement your dinner.

The interior has been given a fresh makeover with bright orange walls and modern decor - the perfect spot for warming up with some mouth-watering cuisine on a cold rainy night. The first room you enter has vibrant pop art that gives the eatery a really modern vibe.

The new menu also features several delicious desserts including warm milk dumplings, pistachio and cardamom syrup and Mango puree with ice cream, topped with fresh cream and sprinkled with chopped nuts

There is also an extended back room ideal for larger parties and Christmas nights out. We are very excited about this fresh new addition to Southside and can't wait to visit. You can find out more and book a table here.
