First look at the 'magical' new John Lewis 'Christmas shop' as it finally returns

It's that time of year where John Lewis makes their iconic 'Christmas floor' debut allowing shoppers to really get into the festive spirit.

The Christmas shop is known for its array of weird and wonderful decorations, from brightly coloured Christmas trees to unique looking baubles. John Lewis on Oxford Street in London has now officially opened its Christmas shop, but festive lovers don't need to travel that far to marvel in Christmas wonder.

John Lewis in Liverpool ONE has officially opened its Christmas shop, and we took a trip to the popular store for a sneak peak. Located on the top floor of the shop, the Christmas store is most certainly a sight to behold.

The Christmas shop

I'm a sucker for anything Christmas related, so you can imagine my excitement when I hopped on the escalator to the Christmas Shop and was welcomed with glistening Christmas lights. I felt instantly giddy as soon as I saw the icy looking lights dangling on the ceiling, which led me to what I like to describe as a 'magical Christmas wonderland'.

The floor was filled with different decorated Christmas trees, from rainbow inspired lights to autumnal looking trees with giant owls as a center piece. For anyone that wants to mix things up this year with decorations and Christmas tree designs, John Lewis has a lot of inspiration to offer.

One Christmas tree design that particularly caught my eye was the John Lewis 'Santa's Rainbow Workshop' which is described as a 'toybox of colours to help make your home a grotto of gorgeousness'. The joyous tree includes a range of different coloured baubles and wacky lights all topped off with a big neon Father Christmas in the middle.

There was also a range of different colour schemes for Christmas trees including feminine soft pinks and bold reds and blues. After admiring the Christmas tree designs and getting some serious inspiration, it was time to look at the bauble section.

I've got to say, there were some pretty unique baubles on show. I'm talking about baubles shaped like pans with egg and bacon, and mini furry foxes to name a few.

If there's anywhere you want to get some unique baubles to add some pizzazz to your bog standard Christmas tree, it would seem that John Lewis is the place for it. This was actually my first time visiting the John Lewis Christmas shop, and it definitely didn't disappoint.

For shoppers who want to push the boat out with glamorous looking door wreaths and quirky Christmas decorations, there's a lot to enjoy. Let's just say, it definitely won't be the last time I visit the Christmas shop.

The verdict

It's very clear to see that a lot of work has gone into the John Lewis Christmas shop, with gorgeous details and pretty Christmas lights to really add to the magic. If I had it my way, the whole floor would be filled with an array of Christmas decorations instead of being split with kids toys and clothes, but maybe I'm just letting my festive greed take over.

The Christmas shop is enough to make even the biggest of scrooges excited for the big day, and it's a great place for a mooch even if you're not planning on buying anything. The store will also be opening its 'Santa Grotto' soon so be sure to keep your eye out for that.
