First look at Spitting Image features Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Gwyneth Paltrow

Spitting Image has returned with its unique take of the state of the world.

A brand new trailer for the show, which was revived as an exclusive programme for streaming service Britbox, reveals a first look at some of the iconic puppets in action.

The trailer launches with President Donald Trump and Prime Minister’s Boris Johnson’s felt doppelgangers in the Oval Office, discussing the new series.

While Johnson's puppet explains Spitting Image’s simple premise, Trump replies: “Puppets? That is the very most moronic thing I’ve ever heard.”

In true Trump style, he adds: “My puppet is going to be the best puppet and I love it.”

With a voiceover saying Spitting Image is a show that “takes on the elite with sophisticated satire”, the trailer also shows parodies of Kanye West, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian.

Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran and the Pope were also ripe for parody, alongside The Mandalorian’s Baby Yoda.

The trailer ended with Johnson and Trump puppets eating KFC in a steam room, before being interrupted by Vladimir Putin in a dog collar, flanked by two blonde women.

Things quickly turn nasty (and silly), with Putin using his felt private parts as a weapon after Trump and Johnson let their towels drop.

Speaking about the new series, Spitting Image co-creator Roger Law told NME: “It’s time to come off furlough!

“Everything the team have done on the new Spitting Image shows – the caricatures, puppets and satirical gags – have all been done in the public interest, as Boris might say: ‘Pro bono publico’.

“The people have spoken and the puppets are ‘oven ready’. We’re going to take back control from the likes of Boris, Cummings, Trump, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.”

The creators of the new series of Spitting Image recently faced criticism after they revealed the new puppets for environmental activist Greta Thunberg and Home Secretary Priti Patel – with the latter stylised as a vampire.

Spitting Image starts Saturday 3rd October on BritBox
