First look at Meghan and Harry's Netflix show features slew of emotional scenes

The trailer for one of the most highly anticipated Netflix drops of the year has finally arrived.

Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle's £88million documentary series, which has been in production with the streaming site all year, has hit screens for the first time as the official advert has been released.

A slew of personal photos are shared by the pair as the programme makers hint what lies in store for fans of the former working royals in the first look clip.

The trailer for Harry & Meghan shows unseen snaps of the couple as well as candid photos of them from their younger days and time as working members of The Firm.

There's also a highly personal image of Meghan in tears, never seen before snaps of their wedding, pictures from Meghan's pregnancies and one of them with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

In a voiceover for the show, Harry says: "No one sees what goes on behind closed doors, I had to do everything I could do to protect my family".

The advert then cuts to the emotional photo of Meghan.

In another image, Meghan is seen sitting next to Harry on a sofa, with the duchess holding both hands up to her face while her glum-looking husband has his head tilted backwards.

After starting with a female voice asking the couple why they wanted to do the docu-series, the clip finishes with a voiceover from Meghan saying: "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

The six-part documentary has been rated a 15 by Netflix as it contains "language and discrimination".

The streaming service also describes the film as a “global event” and says it is "coming soon".

A Netflix spokesman said: "In an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the other side of their high-profile love story.

"Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.

"With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other.

"From the critically-acclaimed, two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, Harry & Meghan is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history."
