First look at Liam Neeson's latest movie as Antrim native hits a major milestone in his career

Liam Neeson is set to star in his 100th movie – as the trailer for the star’s latest project, Marlowe, has been released.

The flick, directed by Academy Award winner Neil Jordan, is a crime thriller set in the 1930s in Hollywood.

Neil previously said: "I couldn’t feel more honoured to be teaming with Liam on his 100th movie, a project we’re all incredibly proud of."

Marlowe will premiere on Sky Cinema on March 17 and will also be available to stream on NOW.

The movie is adapted from The Black-Eyed Blonde by John Banville and brings Old Hollywood to life as the film follows private detective Phillip Marlowe, who is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress.

It stars the Taken actor alongside Diane Kruger and Jessica Lange.

Set in the glamorous world of late 1930s Hollywood, Marlowe stars Neeson as private detective Phillip Marlowe, who is hired to track down the ex-lover of a wealthy heiress (Diane Kruger).

It initially appears to be a straightforward assignment, but – according to the official synopsis – "Marlowe soon finds himself in the underbelly of Hollywood’s film industry and unwittingly drawn into the crossfire of a legendary Hollywood actress (Jessica Lange) and her subversive, ambitious daughter."

If the name of Neeson's detective – Phillip Marlowe – rings a bell, it's because he's a famous fictional character originally created by American crime writer Raymond Chandler.

The tough, hard-drinking, wisecracking private eye first appeared in Chandler's 1939 hardboiled crime novel The Big Sleep, later adapted into a movie classic of the same name starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in 1946.

Neeson is showing no signs of slowing down as he is set to star in another Neil Jordan movie - his 101st film - The Riker’s Ghost.

The explosive thriller will see Neeson play a convict set for release who is then forced to break a terrorist out of prison.

The film, written by Sean O’Keefe and Brian Rudnick, is set to start shooting this September.

Neil Jordan said: "This is a unique take on the prison escape.

"A bare-knuckle ride from incarceration to freedom, by someone who just wants to finish his term. The reluctant escapee will be played by Liam Neeson, and I can’t wait to explore this character with him."
