A hip new barber shop has arrived in Porthcawl. And it could well be the coolest one in town. Mr Mc Barbers is the vibrant new addition to John Street and opened properly earlier this week on Wednesday, March 1. The business is already established in Neath, and has become known for their arty approach to cutting hair.
The new venture has already had a positive reception in Porthcawl. The owner says people have loved watching it come together so the team is feeling optimistic about what lies ahead for them in the area.

There are several other barber shops in Porthcawl's town centre, each with different things to offer. But this new addition seems extra flashy as it's designed to be in-keeping with modern trends.
It seems like the perfect place to snap a photo of your new trim while you're there as well, with the décor including all kinds of aesthetic. It actually looks more like somewhere you'd be going to relax or socialise for a few hours rather than just going for a haircut.
The owners are pushing the message that everyone is welcome to their shop. Mr Mc Barber is set to be open seven days a week from 9am-6pm in Porthcawl.
Mehmet Cakti who runs the shop said: "We've got a nice seating area, and it's all built around a bright green colour and some interesting pictures on the inside. We've also got a big balloon outside to greet people which is so funny.
"People were very interested in us and our other shop. We once had a shop in Bridgend which is closed, but when we left customers said 'please come back', and now we're in Porthcawl."
Outside the shop, there is a cheerful waving balloon which will definitely attract the attention of anyone passing by. Once you go in, the space is very immersive, with neon lights making you feel like you're almost in some kind of music studio.
The arty atmosphere is continued throughout the space, with some unique, wood-like circles dotted around the walls and a waiting area that's spacious enough so people can spend time in it without feeling cramped or that they're taking up too much room. What also stands out about the shop is the amount of different colours inside, and how they all blend together.
Mr Mc Barbers describe their trade on Facebook as barbers with "the ability to make art with scissors, machines and razors" and have come up with all sorts of designs for people's hair. These include haircuts like one where they created a bird-like shape on someone's head, as well as zig-zags, stars and all sorts of different colours to go along with them.
The feedback from people seems to have been positive as they react to the styles the business has shared on their Facebook page. One person commented: "Mr Mc Mc- best in the west." It may be the perfect time for new businesses to join the streets of Porthcawl. Mr Mc Barbers has joined at a time when the seaside town is enjoying a huge increase in the number of people visiting the area - so perhaps a tourist or two might even be tempted to get a haircut there., as well as local residents.
