First look as Glasgow's Scran reopens in exciting new east end location

One of Glasgow's favourite cafes is making a comeback, opening its doors at a brand new location in the east end.

Scran, which was formerly located on Alexandra Parade in Dennistoun, is back in business with owner and chef, Chris Mears, opening their new location at London Road at the back of the Barras today (Friday, November 25).

Posting the exciting news on Instagram, the delighted team wrote: "It's been a long road but we've finally made it. May we introduce to you.... SCRAN 2!!!

"It's been a couple of months so we may be a little shaky in our new home. Please be gentle!"

Speaking to Glasgow Live in October, Chris told us: "After reluctantly closing our doors on the Parade, we feel that this spot is absolutely perfect for the SCRAN brand.

"Believe it or not, I looked at a place here before we opened in Dennistoun four years ago, but we feel the timing is perfect as there's a real electricity in the Barras right now.

"As for Scran, don't worry we're not changing our formula...much. You'll still get all the love and attention you're used to. The menu may be a wee bit more streamlined, but along with your favourites, there's a few new SCRAN ORIGINALS for the menu."

And a delighted Glasgow Live team made it along to take a look at the new premises and can confirm, it's brilliant.

Best of all, we can reveal the breakfast and brunch specialists are back selling Chulos, the mouth-watering stuffed cookies, created by local entrepreneurs Rebecca Paterson and Jordan Rankin, that come in a variety of flavours including Chocwork Orange, PB&J, and Red Velvet Underground.

The much-loved cafe has won a slew of awards since it opened, even taking the title of Scotland's Cafe of the Year at the Food Awards Scotland 2021 and remaining Glasgow Live's only double winner at our Best Places Awards triumphing in the best coffee and best restaurant in the east categories.
