House Of The Dragon is halfway through the season, as Ty Tennant is set to join the cast in the next episode.
Ty, who is the eldest son of David and Georgia Tennant, is following in his parents' footsteps as he joins the highly anticipated Game of Thrones prequel. The 20-year-old actor dons a blonde wig as he transforms into his role, as he will play an older version of Aegon Targaryen, the son of King Viserys and Alicent Hightower, who viewers first saw as a toddler in the third episode.
While we have yet to see Ty in action in the series, the episode six trailer does reveal a number of shots of him, in which Aegon appears to be told that he will be king, despite his half-sister Rhaenyra having been named heir. He will star alongside the rest of the cast, which from next week will also feature Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke, taking over from Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower.
This is due to a 10-year time-jump following the last episode, which also sees Paddy Considine, Matt Smith and other actors aged up with make-up and wig alterations. Regarding the show's structure, showrunner Ryan Condal said before it aired: "This is how you tell this story correctly. We’re telling a story of a generational war. We set everything up so by the time that first sword stroke falls, you understand all the players."
Ty is following in his parents footsteps, after his mum Georgia met her future husband on the set of Doctor Who. Georgia appeared in one episode, and played the Doctor's daughter Jenny before the two actors embarked on a romance.
In March 2012, the Broadchurch actor revealed he had become a 'double dad' after adopting Ty the year before. The Scots actor told Absolute Radio at the time: "My baby is almost a year old and I adopted my wife's boy last year as well so I became a father twice in six months - that's got to be something of a record hasn't it?"
Georgia gave birth to Tyler in 2002, when she was just 17, and brought him up alone. Since then, David and Georgia tied the knot in 2011 and went on to have five children together - Olive, eight, Wilfred, six, Doris, four, and welcomed their fifth child together in October.
In 2020 Ty spoke of the moment he met David on the set of Doctor Who, aged five. Ty spoke of his close bond with the actor, whom he calls his father, and why he would love to be the third Doctor in the family as he appeared on Lorraine.
"It was great, I was five when I first met my dad, my mum was working on Doctor Who at the time," Ty said. "I watched him on TV as the hero, and it was crazy how much your life can change."
