First look around huge pop-up beach bar in Bristol's Millennium Square

With the recent heatwave bringing scorching temperatures with it, there's no denying it would be nice if Bristol boasted a beach.

Sure, Weston-super-Mare is only a short train journey away, but those who have golden sands right on their doorstep should count themselves very lucky.

However, we do have something representing a beach thanks to the Mojito Beach Bar, which launched in Broadmead earlier this summer, complete with delicious cocktails, sand and palm trees.

And as of Thursday, July 25, it isn't the only beach bar in the city centre - as Bristol Beach Club opened in Millennium Square in spectacular fashion.

Headed up by the same team behind the wonderfully festive Apres Bar, which earned rave reviews in December, the bar will be open outside We The Curious until September 7.

For the next six weeks Bristol Beach Club will include fitness activities including sunrise yoga run by Starks Fitness, rollerskating led by Bump Roller Disco and free film screenings from Big Screen Bristol.

Visitors can enjoy cocktails on tap and delicious street food from some well-known names, with the chance to enjoy it all and relax in their own private cabana, which can be booked on Bristol Beach Club's website.

As the evening rolls in, music, free outdoor film screenings and competitive games will take place.

'It's going to be a lot of fun'

A spokesperson for PURE Co, the firm behind the attraction, said: "The launch party last night was really great, there were loads of people down here.

"Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves and there's lots more planned over the next six weeks to keep people entertained.

"The fitness classes will start next week and we're also going to welcome The Bowl Shed, who serve delicious and nutritious açaí bowls to complement the health and fitness side of things.

"I'd recommend following our social channels to keep track of what's going on - it's going to be a lot of fun."

Bristol Beach Club will be open from midday - midnight every day up until September 7, with DJs playing live between Friday - Sunday from 5pm onwards.
