First lady Jill Biden expressed her gratitude to those who supported her husband, President Joe Biden, in her first public statement following his decision to step aside from his reelection campaign. In a handwritten thank you note shared on social media, she thanked those who stood by the President unwaveringly, never doubting and always believing in him.

Implicitly endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Jill Biden urged supporters to transfer their trust from Joe to Kamala. She wrote, 'Thank you for the trust you put in Joe—now it’s time to put that trust in Kamala. Love, Jill.'

Despite President Biden's decision, the first lady is expected to continue her role as a surrogate on the campaign trail, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the Harris campaign. Over the past three-and-a-half years, Jill Biden has been a staunch defender and trusted advisor to the President, exerting influence both in the White House and during campaign activities.

Following the President's announcement, Jill Biden was present for his speech and is set to depart the White House shortly for Paris. She will lead the US delegation to the upcoming Olympics, representing the country on the global stage.
