Huge crowds showed up to the opening of Dublin city centre's newest Krispy Kreme store, with some people showing up at 5am, two hours before the official 7am opening time.
Located in the city’s new Central Plaza building, this is Krispy Kreme’s first store in town and is situated at the popular pedestrian walkway linking Dame Street to Temple Bar. And fans of the delicious doughnuts will be delighted to hear that it will have late opening hours.
It comes four years after the first Krispy Kreme opened in Blanchardstown. There are now six stores in Dublin in total, including Swords, Charlestown, Dundrum and Liffey Valley Shopping Centre.

Ireland Country Manager for Krispy Kreme, Declan Foley told Dublin Live: “We’re going to be open from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday to Wednesday, then Thursday to Saturday we’ll be open until midnight and then until 10:00pm on a Sunday.
“Doughnuts have exploded in the last couple of years and we’re looking to energise this part of the city again. Each customer can experience hot original glazed doughnuts straight off the production line.
“It’s a fully immersed experience where you can see the doughnuts being made from start to finish. It’s an achievement and it’s been a long time coming but we’re delighted to be here in such an iconic location.”
Meanwhile, Lucan lads, Jedward were on hand for the grand opening. They commended the store for bringing the American trend of doughnuts to the city.
They told Dublin Live: “I feel when you wake up in the morning, get your coffee, it’s like being in New York. very cosmopolitan, it’ll set you off for a good start. Sarah Jessica Parker would turn around and give me the gossip on all the girls.”
