Incredible new CGI images illustrate how the rooftop restaurant at the former Debenhams building might look if plans are given the go-ahead.
The artist's impressions showcase a beach club-style terrace with white seating, parasols and a modern high-top bar with impressive views over the city's skyline and Argyle Street below.
The restaurant is part of a huge £50 million masterplan to transform the St Enoch Centre which includes 1,700 new homes, offices and a four-star hotel – future-proofing the shopping and leisure space over the next 20 years.
Owner Sovereign Centros say they are working with Glasgow City Council to develop the site. A formal planning application being prepared and is expected to go in front of a committee in spring 2022.
Following consultation with the public and with Glasgow City Council last year, the proposals have been amended to include widened streets, increased daylight, a public square and increased break-out space, which can be viewed on St. Enoch Centre website.
Guy Beaumont, Director at Sovereign Centros, said: “We are excited by our vision for St. Enoch Centre and how we can future-proof and enhance it.
"We are at the beginning of a long journey and consultation and engagement is hugely important to us. Over the last few months, we have carried out detailed and extensive engagement with a variety of city centre stakeholders, Glasgow City Council and of course, the local community.
"We have welcomed all feedback and many of our conversations have focused on the importance of inclusivity, connectivity and the need for well-considered public space.
"Based on this valued consultation we have enhanced our proposals and we are keen to share the latest updates before we submit our planning application.”
It is anticipated the development would be brought forward in a number of phases over 15 to 20 years.

"The city centre is now undergoing change as it faces new challenges and prepares to take new opportunities, and we welcome any proposal that shows the continued investor confidence in the future of the area, and can help in our economic renewal."
