First ever Sofology store coming to Bristol - creating 11 new jobs

A national sofa store is to open an outlet in Bristol for the very first time.

The shop, which is opening in Patchway later this month, will be the 54th launched by online and physical store sofa retailer Sofology - and the first in Bristol. The Lancashire-based chain was originally founded in the 1970s and was bought by well-known furniture chain DFS in 2017. Since then it has embarked on a rapid growth, both online and with stores around the country.

A spokesperson for Sofology said the new branch, at Highwood Lane in Patchway, would create 11 permanent jobs. The store will be officially opened next Saturday - March 19 - at 10am by the chair of South Gloucestershire council, Cllr Ruth Davis.

The store will be open seven days a week, welcomes dogs, and a spokesperson for Sofology said the new Bristol location had been ‘designed to showcase the sofa specialist’s exclusive collection of upholstery, furniture and accessories’.

Until next week, the nearest Sofology stores have been in Cheltenham, Swindon and Cardiff, but now one is opening in north Bristol for the first time. Customers at the opening event next Saturday will be offered free refreshments and the first ten customers get a goodie bag.

“We are always delighted to bring the brand to a new location and as our 54th store opening, Bristol is particularly exciting,” said director of retail Shaun Cook. “We look forward to welcoming local customers as they explore our new store with our knowledgeable Sofologists on hand to help find the perfect sofa for them,” he added.
