First edition of Ulysses on sale for over €30,000 in magical Blackrock bookshop

A first edition of Ulysses is now on sale for €30,000 in a magical rare bookshop in Blackrock.

The historic artefact was one of the novels first published by the Shakespeare and Company bookshop in Paris, and is a much-desired item for book collectors.

It is available to buy from De Búrca Rare Books on Priory Drive in Blackrock, or by clicking here.

The family business boasts an impressive collection of high quality antiquarian Irish interest books, including several Samuel Beckett plays that are signed by the author himself.

Yesterday was the 100th anniversary of Ulysses being published as as one continuous novel.

It had been published previously in an American Journal, but as individual stories.

To commemorate the anniversary a number of events were held across Dublin and in cities across Europe where Joyce left his mark.

An Post also launched two new stamps to celebrate the 100 years of people reading about the adventures of Leopold Bloom in Edwardian Dublin.
