First Dates Hotel viewers got a shock tonight when a very famous face turned up on the no-celebrity version of the dating show.
S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole, 42, stunned fans when he turned up at the Italian hotel in a bid to find love.
The former pop sensation opened up on his romantic struggle since leaving the chart-topping band and why he chose to quit.
Paul revealed he was forced into a relationship with Hannah Spearritt by scriptwriters as part of their TV show in America.
And viewers were in disbelief when Paul revealed to his date he was in the world famous band because he looked 'unrecognisable'.
Taking to Twitter , one viewer said: "Do not adjust your TV set: Watching #firstdateshotel and THIS IS PAUL FROM S CLUB SEVEN!!!"
"I’m shook as IF that is Paul from S Club 7," added another.
A third said: "As if Paul from S Club 7 is on first dates hotel. He looks unrecognisable"
"Can't believe how calm this woman is I'd lose my mind if I was on a date with Paul from S Club 7," said a fourth.
Paul's date got a shock when she discovered that he used to be in S Club 7 as she didn't recognise him.
Anna's jaw dropped when Paul explained that he as part of the group for five or six years before leaving as he was "losing" himself.
She was saddened when Paul revealed that none of the rest of the band told him to stay when he threatened to leave.
On his relationship with Hannah, Paul revealed that TV bosses made them get together as part of the show.
He said: "There was nothing natural about it. It wasn't how people actually hook up and get together.
"Lovely person but not at any point did it hint this would actually lead to...I think because of the lifestyle of work.
"If you are being controlled to the point your girlfriend's being chosen for you you’re going to quit it. So I did."
Paul admitted his past life had made it tough to get in a real relationship and he wanted to get out of the public eye.
At the end of the date, Anna confessed that she didn't want to get with Paul romantically and the singer said he didn't feel the spark from her.
In emotional scenes, he said: "This lack of confidence thing I’ve been told a lot. I’ve made so many wrong choices.
"I haven’t had a normal kind of life and it becomes obvious to anyone with nous oh my god this guy has been hurt so I hide the real me."
