Fred Sirieix has revealed fans ask him for x-rated love advice on social media.
The 47-year-old maitre d’ found fame as the host and relationship guru on dating show First Dates – but his fame comes with some bizarre unexpected extras.
He said since starring on the show he has continued giving love advice to his friends but he has also garnered some new fans who have interesting queries.
He told Standard Online: “I get messages on Instagram or Facebook or Twitter…I had one, three months ago, from this guy, randomly on Facebook messenger, who said ‘I've always wanted to have a threesome and I would like to tell my girlfriend, but I'm not sure what she's going to think. I’m thinking of booking somebody or getting somebody at home."
“I couldn't believe what I was reading. Why would you tell me? I responded, ‘did you tell your partner? Is it something she wants to do? I'm probably the wrong person to speak to right now because you need to speak to your partner first of all."
“I didn’t get a response after that. It was completely random. I was laughing all afternoon.”
Despite the odd request, Sirieix said he felt people asking him for love advice was a result of him being a friendly face on the show.
“People will see you on TV like that and they think that you are wise and you know everything,” he said.
“I'm on TV and having fun doing that, but it’s a job. So that has an impact on people's perception of you, and that's just the way it is.”
Sirieix has partnered with drinks company Diageo to create the Good Host Guide, which helps give advice to people who are hosting events this Christmas.
Speaking about his top tips, he said: “It's important to break the ice straight away, so when people come to your house, maybe have something quirky and fun to do to make them feel comfortable and at ease.
“I think we also made the mistake of going way above our capabilities when it comes to cooking. It’s a simple tip but make sure that you prepare in advance so on the day you have as little as possible to do.”
