First Dates star Fred Sirieix has revealed he’s undergone a rather gruesome procedure on his thumb.
The Channel 4 star, 51, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a photo of his bandaged left digit as he admitted he was in pain after having his thumbnail removed.
Sharing an image of his slightly bloodied chunky bandage, he wrote alongside it: “Bonjour. What a Monday! Just got my thumbnail removed!
“It hurts! Not only that but doing anything with one incapacitated thumb is not easy.
“Apparently it heals quite fast. Good! Let’s see what the next 24/48 hours are like. Have a good day.”
After sharing his injury with his 835,000 followers, he was inundated with messages from fans wishing him a speedy recovery.
One commented: “Sorry you are in the wars Fred, I hope it heals quickly.”
“Poor you Fred, at least it’s your left hand? Speedy recovery champ,” another shared. “Hope it heals quicker than you are expecting.”
A fourth quipped: “You should have no problem hitchhiking, it’s all about the positives!”
The TV star’s ailment comes two months after pal Gino D’Acampo quit their popular road trip show with Gordon Ramsay amid “stressful” contract discussions.
In March, the Italian celebrity chef, 46, said he would rather step back from the ITV show, Gordon, Gino And Fred: Road Trip, than have it affect his friendship with his co-stars as he values it “so much”.
The food show sees the trio cook and try local cuisines as they travel through various countries including Italy, France, Scotland, Greece and the US.
A fourth series, titled Gordon, Gino & Fred’s Road Trip in Spain, is still due to air on ITV and ITVX later this year as it has already been filmed, the broadcaster has said.
The first series of the ITV show aired in 2018 and followed D’Acampo, Ramsay and Sirieix on a European adventure, organising a special ceremony in each of their home countries – Italy, Scotland and France respectively.
The four-part follow-up series, Gordon, Gino & Fred: American Road Trip, was launched in 2020 while the third, Gordon, Gino & Fred Go Greek, had a shortened run of two episodes when it premiered in 2021.
There were also three Christmas specials and two episodes with unseen clips from across the series.
The trio will return to screens later this year for the fourth, and potentially final, instalment which sees them head to Spain in search of the best seafood, wine and tapas.
