Firm behind Alnwick's stylish Adam and Eve restaurant plans second Northumberland eatery

A boutique hospitality group is looking to open its second Northumberland restaurant in a former bank.

Bart and Taylor has outlined plans to turn the former Barclays Bank on Wooler High Street into a new eatery.

The new restaurant and bar would be on the ground floor of the Grade II listed building, with the kitchen in the rear extension area.

It comes after the company opened stylish restaurant-bar Adam and Eve on Alnwick's Clayport Street last year after a £200,000 renovation.

In a statement to Northumberland County Council, it states: "The property has undergone modest extension and alteration since the original date of construction in the form of a single storey, flat roof, brick-built extension to the rear which housed the vault for the former Barclays Bank.

"The first floor of the building has been converted to residential flats however this will not be altered under these proposals – all works are to be to the ground floor of the building.

"All original features have been removed from the ground floor of the building during previous refurbishment/modernisation works, leaving only modern finishes remaining.

"The remaining traditional architectural features of the building will be retained, and no works will be undertaken to the principal elevation of the property."
