ORLANDO, Fla. — Walt Disney World will relaunch its nightly fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Epcot theme parks as of July 1, the resort has announced.
The nighttime displays have been on hiatus since the parks closed in March 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. When the attractions reopened, they did so without pyrotechnics and parades, two offerings that encouraged big crowds in close quarters.
“Happily Ever After” will be presented at Magic Kingdom. The show premiered in 2018. July 1 will mark the first time the fireworks have been launched over the newly redecorated Cinderella Castle. The icon received a makeover ahead of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration, which begins in gusto in October.
“Epcot Forever” will be presented over World Showcase Lagoon, which is currently being outfitted for “Harmonious,” the next nighttime spectacular at Epcot. “Epcot Forever” took the place of the long-running “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.”
Disneyland will resume its fireworks on July 4 with “Mickey’s Mix Magic.”
Disney World continues to require date-specific reservations in addition to regular park admission.
