A number of fires broke out in and around Merseyside as temperatures rose.
Plumes of smoke were seen on the New Brighton waterfront on Tuesday. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) was alerted to a fire on grassland on King's Parade at 1.37pm and crews arrived at the scene at 1.47pm.
Footage of the scene showed smoke rising from the scorched land while part of a nearby fence has been consumed by flames. Officers could also be seen damping down the fire with hoses. The blaze was extinguished at around 3pm.

"It’s why we and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service ask everyone to take extra care with anything flammable when the grass is so dry. Thanks again to crews for responding to this."
Another fire also broke out in Waterloo when the entrance of a bridge was engulfed by flames. A video showed the fire burning at the entrance of the bridge on Sommerville Road in Waterloo with some flames even reaching into the trees above.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service believe the fire started on the railway embankment and before spreading to the bridge, a fence of a nearby property, and, also to the Waterloo Community Forest Garden. Fire crews were called to the scene shortly before 10am
It is not clear what caused the blaze and it is not being treated as suspicious. The fire had spread to fencing at the rear of a property, a footbridge over the railway line and to vegetation in a neighbouring park.
Although not in Merseyside, a wildfire broke out in Delamere Forest at around 5.40pm on Tuesday.. Cheshire Fire and Rescue sent eight fire engines to the scene.
The blaze involved 40m by 40m of ground and was described as "deep seated" by fire crews. In the latest update, Cheshire Fire and Rescue said crews stayed at the scene throughout the night and "are continuing to damp down areas and extinguish hot spots of fire."
One hose reel is currently in use and there is a water shuttle set up along with a portable pump to feed the hose. Relief crews are in attendance from Winsford and Tarporley.
According to Merseyside Fire and Rescue, fire crews have attended 80 grass-related fires since Thursday, July 1.4. They warned people to take litter home, dispose of cigarettes properly and not to light fires in open countryside, dunes or woodland - this includes BBQs.
