Firefighters have been tackling flames from a blaze at a sweetshop in the Benwell area of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews were deployed to the incident at a commercial premises in Elswick Road on Tuesday evening.
Four appliances were needed to bring the blaze under control after it broke out at 'The Sweetfather' on the corner with St John's Road.
'The Sweetfather' is a confectionary store which operates a dessert delivery service.
A portion of the street was cordoned off as firefighters got to work putting the flames out and minimising damage to the property.
Northumbria Police were also present at the incident and helped direct traffic away from the blaze.
Signs were placed in the road advising drivers there was a fire related incident nearby.
