Firefighters cut through car to rescue person in T-bone crash

Firefighters have cut through the roof and door of a car to rescue a driver involved in a crash in north Belconnen.

The driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

They are believed to be in a stable condition, a spokesman from ACT Emergency Services Agency said.

The incident occurred just before midday at the intersection of Coulter Drive and John Cleland Crescent in Florey.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle, a Ford Falcon, fled from the scene on foot.

Officers found the person at a nearby residence and arrested them just before 2pm, a police spokesperson said.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number P2273894," they said.

Northbound lanes on Coulter Drive were closed between Ginninderra Drive and John Cleland Crescent but have reopened as of 2.50pm.
