Firefighters in Dundee battled through the night tackling a major blaze after a steam turbine caught fire.

The dramatic incident happened on an industrial estate in the city.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spoke to Dundee Live this morning.

They confirmed that two appliances were called out from the Kingsway Station to the scene in Forties Road, on the Baldovie Industrial Estate.

Fire hoses were used as well as thermal imaging cameras to bring the fire under control.

A spokeswoman said they received a call in the early hours of Thursday.

They added: “We received a call at 1.35am on Thursday of a turbine on fire at a site in Forties Road, Dundee.

“Two fire appliances from Kingsway station were sent to the scene and on arrival found a turbine alight.

“Crews remained at the scene until the area was made safe.

“The stop call was issued at 6.12am whereby crews left the scene.

“There are no reports of any injuries from the incident.”
