Firebugs terrorise Paisley neighbourhood by starting three blazes in one day

A spate of deliberate fires have terrorised a Paisley neighbourhood in recent days.

Three such incidents in one day prompted police to issue an appeal for information regarding those responsible for igniting the blazes.

Around 4.40pm on Sunday, February 26 two sheds were set on fire on Barscube Terrace.

Then just a short time later, around 4.50pm on Todholm Terrace, which runs parallel to Barscube, a caravan and boat were set alight by the rampaging firebugs.

And later that evening, around 9.45pm, bins on Todholm Terrace were set on fire.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt in any of these incidents.

Police officers in Paisley say they are carrying out enquiries to determine whether the fires are linked.

Detective Constable Jade Clark said: “Luckily no one was injured as a result of these incidents.

“Although these locations are all very close, we are still carrying out enquiries to establish if there are any links between these three incidents.

“At this stage in our enquiry, I would urge anyone who was in these areas around the time the fires were set who witnesses anything suspicious, or who has any information that may assist us, to come forward. I would also ask anyone in these areas around those times with dash-cam or personal footage to contact us.”

Police say that information should be passed to them by calling 101 and quoting reference number 2409 of February 26.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
