Two women are in hospital after a fire tore through a terraced house in Bangor, Gwynedd. The alarm was raised at around 10.41am on Sunday (April 16)
Eight fire crews were sent to the scene to bring the blaze under control. A large number of emergency service vehicles and staff - including North Wales Police - were seen parked-up on Friars Avenue while the crews battled to dampen the flames. A road to the rear of the property was also cordoned off for a time in the aftermath of the incident.
North Wales Live understand that two other properties in the terraced row of houses were also damaged in the incident. Pictures from the scene show that a large part of the roof had collapsed following the blaze.
In one photo, smoke can be seen emanating from the gulf in the roof and a blown-out window on what is believed to be the second floor.
A NWFR spokesman initially released a statement to the BBC confirming that all occupants inside the property had managed to evacuate safely and that no injuries were reported. That statement was later revised to include an update on two individuals taken to hospital for treatment.
A statement issued by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday afternoon read: "Emergency services are at a house fire on Friars Avenue, Bangor. We mobilised 8 fire appliances at 10.41am.
"A mid terrace property was alight and adjacent properties also affected. All persons evacuated.
"2 female casualties attending hospital for treatment. Please avoid the area." North Wales Police also issued a statement earlier this afternoon confirming that officers were assisting with the operation and urging people to avoid the area.
