Firefighters have sealed off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh this afternoon after a fire broke out at a historic Old Town pub.
Emergency services raced to the Royal Mile Tavern at around 12.50pm after reports of the fire.
Pictures from the scene show several fire engines in attendance as firefighters attempt to extinguish the blaze in the popular boozer.
There are currently seven appliances with up to 35 firefighters at the scene and it is unclear if anyone has been injured, reports Edinburgh Live.
Smoke was seen billowing from the building into the sky as intrigued passers-by watched on.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and RescueService said: "We received reports of an ongoing incident on the Royal Mile at 12.48 on February 9. There are currently seven appliances at the scene."
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
