Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have sealed off a takeaway following a partial building collapse and a fire.
The fire service received a call at 3.23pm on Friday, December 16, following reports of an incident at the Charcoal Hob on Prescot Road, at the junction of Green Lane in Old Swan. Three fire vehicles arrived ten minutes later, including two engines and a search and rescue unit.
Firefighters found a small blaze on the first floor of the building as well as the partial collapse into the ground floor. Nobody was in the building when the incident took place and fire fighters have now put a cordon in place around the takeaway in case it destabilises.

One lane of traffic on Prescot Road outside the takeaway is also closed. Scottish Power have attended the scene to isolate the gas and electricity to the property.
The fire service remain at the scene while they wait for a council structural engineer.
