Fire rips through top floor flat in Fife

A fire has ripped through a top floor Scots flat sparking an emergency response on Sunday afternoon.

The blaze broke out shortly after 3pm on January 15 at a property on Lothian Terrace in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

Thick, black smoke was seen billowing out of the top floor flat windows in pictures with fire crews taping off the area for the public's protection.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) raced to the scene with four crews in attendance at the height of the blaze.

Fire services said there were no casualties. Local reports suggest that a dog was saved from a nearby property within the affected building. Other homes also have water damage.

A SFRS spokesperson said: "We attended a fire within a property in Lothian Terrace, Kirkcaldy. There were four appliances at the scene at the end of the fire.

"There were no causalities. We received a call at 15.12. Crews have now extinguished the fire."
