A fire involving a tumble dryer broke out in the basement of a restaurant in West Didsbury. Fire crews were called to the scene on Burton Road on Wednesday afternoon (February 8).
Fire engines were pictured outside the popular The Great Kathmandu restaurant, on the corner of Burton Road and Cavendish Road, with a small area outside taped off.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service later confirmed they had been called to a report of a restaurant fire shortly before 4pm, which had broken out in a basement and had involved a tumble dryer. No injuries were reported in the incident.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 4pm this afternoon (Wednesday 8th February), three fire engines from Withington, Moss Side and Wythenshawe fire station were called to reports of a building fire involving a tumble dryer in the basement of a restaurant on Burton Road, Manchester.
“The crews arrived quickly at scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses used a hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire. Firefighters have been in attendance for around an hour and are still at the scene.”
