A fire has torn the roof off a house in Bridgend this evening. Firefighters remain at the scene of the incident at Heol y Mynydd in Sarn after the blaze which is understood to have began at approximately 6pm. These pictures, taken by Lee Tompkins show the devastating extent of the fire which has caused visible damage to the property.
Together with the roof, the property has been left visibly charred and fire damaged. Police, the ambulance service and Mid and West Wales Fire Service all attended the incident within ten to 15 minutes of receiving reports. Roads were cordoned off as emergency services attended the scene. Many expressed their concerns over the incident as it was unfolding, but fortunately, it is understood that nobody was at the property at the time of the incident and that nobody is hurt.
Mr Tompkins, who is a nearby resident, said: "The whole community is really shocked by what happened. Everyone is so glad that nobody was hurt. There was approximately 75 people watching and everyone was very shocked by the incident. Very well done by all emergency services that attended. Very professional and efficient."
Mid and West Wales Fire Service confirmed that firefighters are in attendance at the property, but refused to comment further. South Wales Police has been contacted for comment.
