Firefighters are investigating a blaze that destroyed an abandoned building at Adamstown in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews were called to the premises on Park Avenue, on the property next to Adamstown Car Doctors, about 4.30am.

No-one was inside at the time the fire broke out.

Firefighters from six stations - 11 units - responded to the blaze.

It took them about 90 minutes to get the fire under control.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

The spokesperson said the abandoned building was totally destroyed in the blaze.
