A factory containing around 400 tonnes of waste recycling was alight
(Picture: London Fire Brigade)Around 100 firefighters spent hours tackling a large blaze at a waste recycling factory in West London on Monday night.
Fifteen fire engines responded to the fire in an industrial area on Rigby Lane in Hayes, where around 400 tonnes of recycling was alight.
“Firefighters worked swiftly to bring the fire under control. There are currently no reports of any injuries,” said London Fire Brigade station commander Dean Wilkinson.
“Two of the brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders were used at the scene as water towers, to get water on to the building externally.
“Around 10 gas cylinders were removed as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.”

London Fire Brigade was called at 11.41pm on Monday and the fire was under control by 3.15am.
Crews from Hillingdon, Heathrow, Feltham, Hayes, Heston and surrounding fire stations attended.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
