Fire crews tackle huge inferno at Scots hotel through the night as flames rip through building

Fire crews continue to battle fierce flames which ripped through a derelict Scots hotel more than 12 hours ago. The road outside the Lundin Links Hotel in Leven, Fife, remains closed after emergency services were first called to the scene at around 8.30pm the night before.

Shocking video footage shows the fire tearing through the roof of the iconic listed building, which has been closed since 2014. Thick black smoke billowed into the night sky while the orange flames could be seen from miles away.

A number of residents were evacuated from their nearby homes while at least seven fire crews with specialist equipment and height appliances attended. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they remain in attendance.

In a statement issued on Friday morning, they said: "We were alerted at 8.36pm on Thursday, 18 August to reports of a fire at a derelict building on Leven Road, Lundin Links, Fife.

"At its height, Operations Control mobilised seven appliances, two height vehicles and specialist resources to extinguish the fire. Two appliances and a height vehicle, as well as a number of other resources, remain at the scene this morning.
