Fire crews tackle huge blaze at derelict Scots building as police launch probe

Fire crews have been tackling a huge blaze at a derelict building in Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to Pathhead in New Cumnock after the alarm was raised at around 8.40pm on Thursday. Dramatic pictures taken from the scene showed huge flames whipping out of the sandstone building.

Firefighters could be seen battling the blaze as it quickly spread throughout the building. Plumes of black smoke billowed up into the sky as water was doused onto the flames.
