Fire crews were called out to Benton on Sunday afternoon after a kitchen fire at a home on Cosgrove Court.
Residents were seen standing on the street looking on as two fire crews from Gosforth and Byker respectively worked to put the blaze out, which is believed to have been started by cooking being left unattended.
ChronicleLive understands that the smoke severely damaged the kitchen and spread to the rest of the house. But thankfully, nobody was injured.

A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "On Sunday evening about 4:50pm our fire control recieved a call about a kitchen fire in Benton, Newcastle. Two crews, one from Gosforth and one from Byker Community Fire Stations, were on scene in just four minutes to begin battling the blaze.
"It is believed that the fire was started accidentally as a result of cooking being left unattended. Thankfully no one was injured and our fire crews left the scene at 5:17pm."
